About

Hi, I am Sophie Dow and I am the founder of Mindroom, a charity dedicated to helping children and adults with learning difficulties.
I am also a journalist and mother of two. My daughter Annie, who is by now 21 years old, has severe learning difficulties and is the inspiration behind Mindroom.
Learning difficulties, in all its forms, is a much bigger issue than previously understood. In fact, it is one of the big public health problems of our time.
It is an issue that concerns us all.
I hope my blog will provide you with further insight into the complexities that concerns the brain and the mind, as I collate all kinds of information to suit all kinds of minds.

looking forward to learning more about Mindroom, Sophie. Hope I can help to contribute!
Kathryn who is affected by 18q-, has completed 2 Masters degrees at Glasgow University, and we’ve learned a lot in the past 30 years. Wish we knew what we didn’t know ;-)
